Sam Talbot's Lemon Ricotta Hot Cakes / Dr. Oz Healthy Pancakes

Ingredients

Serves 6-8

  • Grated zest and juice of 2 lemons
  • 1 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 tbsp almond milk
  • 1 tbsp agave nectar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tbsp reduced-fat sour cream
  • 3 organic cage-free organic eggs, separated
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated stevia extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Directions

In a large bowl, whisk together the lemon zest and juice, ricotta, milk, almond milk, agave nectar, applesauce, sour cream and egg yolks. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, sweetener, baking powder, and baking soda. Add the flour mixture to the ricotta mixture and mix until combined. The batter will be slightly lumpy.

In a small bowl, whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks. Using a rubber spatula, fold the beaten egg whites into the batter.

Heat a medium skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and coat it with cooking spray. Working in batches, drop 1⁄3 cup of batter per hot cake onto the skillet and cook until bubbles appear on the surface. Then flip the hot cakes and cook through. Repeat with the rest of the batter, making 8 to 10 hot cakes.

Dr. Oz Four Reasons You’re Exhausted

Here are Dr.Oz’s 4 secret reasons you’re exhausted

1. Diet: Carb Coma – There are nutritional practices and patterns that you do that can be adding to your exhaustion or hopefully alleviating it a little bit. You may be overeating throughout the day even if it is good foods. Heidi Skolnik told Wanda to have an egg before she leaves on her commute to work, and she can still have breakfast at her desk, just not as much, and have a snack around 11 AM, to stop constantly snacking.

2. Tongkat Ali Boost Testosterone - The second secret reason you may be exhausted – Shawn Talbott says they look for a lot things in blood work when women are exhausted and it very well be cortisol-testosterone exhaustion. Cortisol goes up and testosterone goes down which can lead to exhaustion. Low testosterone is not just a problem for men, normal testosterone levels should be anywhere from 8 – 48, Michelle’s testosterone level was 7.

Testosterone level of 7 is a sign of overall exhaustion says Dr. Talbott and some things to do to bring the testosterone back up to a normal range is to eat healthy, exercise and recommends a supplement for testosterone Tongkat Ali. Michelle plus 10 other women were also confirmed with pre diabetes.

3. Over The Counter Medications – The third secret reason you’re exhausted is with Diana who takes medications a couple of times a week. Dr. Oz said over the counter pain medications as well as other OTC’s have side effects. Most pain relievers with naproxan they work great but cause sleepiness.

Dr. Oz got the peppermint oil and put a few drops on a damp clothe and massage your neck.

4. Pets – The fourth secret reason you may be exhausted is are you sleeping with your pet? Studies show that over half of the people who sleep with pets in their bed report problems of sleeping. STOP IT!

Give him his own bed, make sure he gets lots of exercise throughout the day, and treat with with Kong to occur him.

Tongkat Ali Benefits

When you consume Tongkat Ali extract in sufficient dosage and concentration, your testosterone level will definitely increase. And the increase in testosterone level no doubts leads to:
  • A high sex drive and libido

Dr. Oz Disease Fighting Teas | Health Benefits Of Teas

Dr. Oz Disease Fighting Teas: Today Dr. Oz did a segment of teas that fight disease and the health benefits from tea that you might not be aware of. Within every type of tea is a range of rich flavors and powerful preventative health benefits. There are many different varieties of teas out there, see how each of the following delicious teas can help prevent disease.

Black Tea to Prevent Diabetes- Darjeeling, Earl Grey & Chai Tea Studies show the polysaccharides in black tea have glucose-inhibiting properties – meaning that black tea can help to prevent diabetes. It also has more caffeine than other teas. Black tea has different types of flavors, from sweet to strong.

White Tea to Prevent Colon Cancer – Silver Needle Tea, White Peony Tea & Noble, Long Life Eyebrow Tea White tea is less processed than other forms of tea, therefore the polyphenols, a type of antioxidant, are extra potent. Research indicates that these benefits may protect against colon cancer, among other cancers. White tea’s flavor ranges from delicate to bold.

Green Tea to Prevent Alzheimer’s – Matcha Tea, Sencha Tea & Jasmine Tea Green tea creates chemicals during digestion that work against the key triggers of Alzheimer’s. Studies show that drinking green tea may potentially prevent the onset or slow the progression of dementia.

Dr. Oz Health Benefits Of Tea

Hidden Health Benefits of Tea - For centuries, tea has been used in alternative medicine to cure everything from cancer to bad breath. Do you know some of tea’s hidden benefits? See why the right variety could be the answer to your health problems.

Mood: Sage Tea Though sage is most commonly used in cooking, sage tea has been shown to boost alertness and mood, while decreasing anxiety. It also has flavanoids that reduce inflammation. To enhance the flavor, mix it with black tea, brew for 5-10 minutes and add a pinch of honey.

Tea For Skin: Wormwood Tea The high levels of antioxidants and polyphenols found in wormwood can help relieve itching and irritation from contact dermatitis, a form of eczema. The fantastic flavor of the tea is enhanced the longer it brews. After brewing, drain the water and place the leaves directly on your face for 10 minutes to leave your skin looking and feeling refreshed.

Tea For Allergies: Nettle Tea The tea from this prickly plant helps to prevent hay fever and allergy attacks by blocking the histamines in your body. Nettle tea is dense, so brew it for 15-20 minutes. Make a larger pot during allergy season and keep in the fridge. Add lime to freshen taste.

Tea For Weight-Loss: Oolong Tea Oolong tea boosts metabolism, helping you burn fat faster. Studies have shown that drinking oolong tea has led to sustained weight loss and a smaller waist size. Be careful not to drown your tea in sugar, which will negate the benefits.

Tea For Migraines: Ginger Tea Ginger tea works as an anti-inflammatory agent. Ginger blocks prostagladins – the chemical messengers that cause a slight swelling in the brain. Drink ginger tea at the onset of your headache. This is when it’s most effective in blocking pain.

Tea For Libido: Ginseng Tea This tea boosts sexual arousal and combats erectile dysfunction. Ginseng tea contains compounds called ginsenosides that affect gonadal tissue, increasing sperm count as well as sexual performance for both women and men.

FDA Yanks HCG Weight Loss | Product Alert

medpagetoday.com:

The FDA and the Federal Trade Commission said over-the-counter weight loss products containing human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) are fraudulent and illegal, and the agencies have told seven manufacturers to stop selling them. The seven companies receiving the warning letters, in addition to HCG Diet Direct, included Nutri Fusion Systems, Natural Medical Supply (doing business as HCG Complete Diet), HCG Platinum, Theoriginalhcgdrops.com, and HCG-miracleweightloss.com.

The FDA and FTC emphasized that the letters were a "first step in halting sale" of HCG weight-loss remedies. Other companies that market such products "should also read these letters carefully and take appropriate action," Cleland said.

"There is no substantial evidence HCG increases weight loss beyond that resulting from the recommended caloric restriction," said Elizabeth Miller, acting director of the FDA's fraud unit for OTC products, during a conference call with reporters.

HCG weight-loss products are typically sold over the Internet, often promoted with unsolicited "spam" emails, with such claims as "Lose 26 pounds in 26 days" and "Resets your metabolism."

According to one of the letters, sent to HCG Diet Direct LLC of Tucson, Ariz., "The claims made on your product labeling and website ... clearly demonstrate that this product is a drug as defined" by federal law.

The companies have 15 days to inform the FDA of the steps they have taken to correct the violations. Theoretically, the firms could seek FDA approval for the weight-loss claims, but the agencies expect that they will simply stop selling the products.

If the companies do not do so voluntarily, the FDA and FTC threatened to forcibly halt their operations.

Many of these products are labeled as homeopathic remedies, but they are illegal whether the word "homeopathic" is used or not, said Richard Cleland, assistant director of the FTC's advertising practices division.

If the product is marketed or meets federal standards to qualify as a drug, but is not FDA-approved, it cannot be sold legally, Cleland said.

Officials from both agencies were unable to estimate how many people have bought HCG weight-loss products, but Cleland said they were the current hot item in the lose-weight-fast category.

Dr. Oz HCG Diet Weight Loss Miracle Or Hype

Dr. Oz did a show on the HCG Diet - Dr. Oz: HCG Diet | Does Dr. Oz Approve Of The HCG Diet, people who swear by the diet and having lost a pound a day up to 40 pounds in 40 days.

The HCG Diet dates back to the 1950′s – HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a hormone produced during pregnancy. One of it’s functions is to ensure the growing fetus receives enough nutrients to grow and develop normally. It does this by making the abnormal fat stored in the mother’s body available for use. Dr. ATW Simeons discovered in the 1950′s that small doses of HCG given to overweight individuals (men and women) decreased their appetite, and made them lose inches specifically around their hips, thighs, buttocks and stomachs. Today millions of people have used Hcg for weight loss.

The HCG Diet limits you to 500 calories a day, far below the 1200 calories nutritionists and doctors including Dr. Oz as safe. It is easy to buy weight loss products that contain HCG over the counter and online that have little or no trace of the hormone in it. The most concentrated dose of the hormone must be prescribed by your doctor. Dr. Oz asks ” Is HCG the ultimate recipe for weight loss”?

Guests share the negative side effects they experienced while on the HCG diet. Plus, homeopathic HCG supplement drops – do they work? Dr. Oz reveals the results of his research

Dr. Oz: SAMe For Depression | St. John’s Wort, 5-HTP & Saffron

Dr. Oz SAMe For Depression – Boost Your Mood In Days

Dr. Oz SAMe, St. John’s Wort, 5-HTP & Saffron; Dr. Oz best natural antidepressants without a prescriptionIn this segment of the Dr. Oz show today Dr. Oz and Dr.Pina Logiudice - Natural Medicine, she told Oz a research article that came out last year that did a cross study on depressant medications they actually found that it doesn’t work any better than placebo. So what are people going to do? You look at natural medicines that can work just the same if not better. There are many natural options for depression from the natural medicine world. Addressing underlying lifestyle, diet, digestive and psychological causes is very important for long-term results.

Dr. Oz SAMe: Depression

SAMe for Depression With Aging and Pain – SAMe works in days to boost your mood and help with depression, it works quick and doesn’t have drug interactions

SAMe stands for S-adenosylmethionine, and is a naturally occurring chemical in the body based on the amino acid methionine; it helps boost a number of neurotransmitters. SAMe also helps with healthy nerve conduction as well. It also has been shown to be helpful with patients who have arthritis and joint pain. SAMe tends to work quickly, often lifting mood within days rather than weeks, whereas most other supplements and drugs take longer. It has been shown to be very useful for Parkinson’s Disease patients with depression, and some studies suggest it may be most beneficial in the senior population. Other studies show it to be safe for children too, and preliminary research shows it may be safe in pregnancy, though more research is needed. Dosing for SAMe starts slowly. Usually, we recommend a dosage of 200mg twice daily, for the first day, then increase to 400mg twice daily on day three, then to 400mg three times daily on day 10, and finally to the full dose of 400mg four times daily.

Dr. Oz 5-HTP for Depression With Anxiety

5-hyrdroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is an amino acid found in low amounts in foods like turkey and bananas. 5-HTP is the molecule the body uses to make serotonin, a molecule that helps elevate mood. While many antidepressants artificially stop the production of enzymes that breakdown serotonin, 5-HTP gives the body more of the raw materials it needs to make more serotonin. 5-HTP is very good at crossing the blood brain barrier, which means it is a molecule that can get into the brain to help achieve a needed change in brain chemistry. 5-HTP is best used with someone who has both depression and anxiety. It is also an effective choice for people who have insomnia and cannot stay asleep. Finally, there is some research that suggests it has benefit with weight loss. While there are no known toxicities of 5-HTP, some people can get a little nausea when taking 5HTP, so it helps to take it with some carbohydrate, like a slice of apple, which will also help its absorption. We often dose it at 100mg twice a day, up to 200mg three times a day.

Dr. Oz St. John's Wort: Depression

St. John’s Wort for Low Level Depression: St. John’s wort is the most studied herb of all time. It’s Latin name Hypericum perforatum means “above a ghost” and the plant was originally gathered as a way to ward off evil spirits. Rigorous studies have shown St. John’s wort to be quite useful in treating depression illness. While early researchers thought St. John’s wort worked like a weak version of an antidepressant drug, current research suggests that St. John’s wort has many effects on both the brain and the body. St. John’s wort is known to help digestion, act as an antiviral, has anti-inflammatory properties, and supports thyroid function. It also gently balances the neurotransmitters GABA, norepinephrine, serotonin and dopamine.

Depression sufferers who have a long-term chronic type of depression called dysthymia often do the best with this herb. If you can get out of bed and function at a job, but are just generally still low in mood, self-esteem and zest for life, this may be a good herb for you.

You can take St. John’s wort in capsule, as a tea, or as a liquid extract, which is a concentrated form of the herb. It is usually dosed in capsule form at 900mg to 1800mg a day in divided doses. St. John’s Wort begins to work over a period of 6 weeks

Please note St. John’s wort can affect the effectiveness of other medications. Two studies show it can help the drug Plavix work better in people for whom it did not initially work. Other studies show it can lower the effects of birth control pills and immune suppressants. So, if you are taking medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist before using St. John’s wort.

Dr. Oz Saffron: Depression

Saffron is a well-known Persian spice used for its ability to help the digestive system heal. Because most neurotransmitters are made in the digestive tract, this might be the reason saffron has been shown in studies to elevate low mood. As the most expensive spice, it is high in carotenoids and B vitamins. In studies, saffron has been compared to both Prozac and Imipramine, and found to work at least as well, or better, with less side effects.

While the petal is the expensive part of the herb, you can also take capsules of the stigma part of the plant, which is less expensive, but still contains the powerful mood-enhancing ingredients. Studies use a dose of 15mg twice a day. No toxicity has been shown when taking saffron in therapeutic amounts or in cooking.
