Dr.Oz talked on a fatigue fighter that can boost your energy throughout the day. Under the sheet today to boost your energy, was pig lungs. Dr. Oz explained that when lungs have accumulated fluid in them they go from being a light fluffy organ to becoming heavy and becomes a place for bacteria can grow. He went on to explain that taking deeps breaths is great for our overall health, and gives us the energy we need. When our lungs are light they can exchange air more readily. Oxygen in, carbon dioxide out.

Dr. Oz told about a food we can eat that will benefit the lungs, and keep them young. It is fruit, an apple to be precise. Apples have Quercetin in them. Quercitin is an important nutrient, it helps our body rejuvenate cells especially in the lung it is a beneficial tool for all of us. Lung ailments are one of the top 5 reasons folks have problems as they get older.

Recent studies have supported that Quercetin may have positive effects in combating or helping to prevent cancer, prostatitis, heart disease, cataracts, allergies/inflammations, and respiratory diseases such as bronchitis and asthma.

Killer Bacteria In Our Foods

How safe is your food? Dr. Oz explores the bacteria hiding in your kitchen and how you can start protecting your family.

Not all food that reaches our dinner plates has been inspected for contaminants. Food that could come from the family farm in your community, or big agricultural operations and even remote regions around the world. Each time our food changes hands it is an opportunity for bacteria, parasites and other organisms to get into our food.

David Kessler Expert Food And Drug Administration(FDA) explains food contamination comes from the bacteria in feces of animals(cows)that is dropped to the ground. The contaminated feces is absorbed into the soil, then that soil is irrigated by rain or whatever, thus the bacteria ending up into the foods we eat.

For optimum food safety make sure your milk, juice, and cider has been pasteurized.
Wash your hands and your food. Wash all your fruits and vegetables that have an inedible rind or skin that will be peeled, plus wash meat and poultry before you freeze it or start cooking it. Keep perishable stored in your refrigerator at 40° F or below, or freezer at 0 °F or below. Thaw foods in the refrigerator and not at room temperature. Most of us have the bad habit of thawing out our foods on the counter.

Watch out for cross contamination, keep juices from raw meat, poultry and seafood from coming into contact with produce and other foods. Use separate cutting boards and utensils for raw meat, and don't put your cooked meat back on a plate that once held raw meat.

Apply the minimum cooking temperature for beef, lamb and veal (145° F)
Ground meats (165° F)
Fresh pork and ham (160° F)
Poultry (165° F)
Eggs (till yolk is firm)
Leftovers and casseroles (165° F)
