Dr. Oz And The Vegan Cowboy Rocco After 28 Day Vegan Diet Challenge

Did Rocco last 28 days on The Vegan Diet?
Did he lose the weight?

Our favorite cowboy is back! It's been 28 days since Rocco gave up animal products in the fight for his life. Dr. Oz challenged Rocco, a meat lovin cowboy to go on a Vegan Diet for 28 days! He asked Rocco to give up meat and animal products for 28 days. Rocco told Dr. Oz there is nothing green on his plate when he sits down to a meal. It was calculated that Rocco ate two and a half pounds of saturated fat per week. Rocco fessed up he was 53 years old and was wondering how long he was going to make it. Watch the video of Rocco before the Vegan Diet, and the video of Rocco after 28 days on the Vegan Diet.

To start off in the truth tube his numbers were;
Blood sugars were 172
Waist size was 49 inches
Hemoglobin A1C was 9.0
BMI 37
HDL 33
Weight 265 Pounds

Dr. Oz showed Rocco the plaque built up inside his arteries, and told him he was in the 97th percentile, and that almost nobody has more plaque than him, and that he had the heart of an 85 year old. The only words Rocco could get out of his mouth is "Is it reversible" because you could see the fear in eyes, and I know he was going to cry. At this point Dr. Oz called upon his best friend Dr. Mike Roizen, the enforcer, he makes sure Rocco stays on track. Dr. Mike heads out to visit our Meat Lovin Cowboy in Phoenix, Arizona to make a house call see if he is staying on the Vegan Diet Dr. Oz put him on.

In Rocco's refrigerator there was no meat, it was full of fresh fruit, and leafy greens, he looked amazing. You could see immediately the weight he had lost, and how much healthier he looked after just 28 days. As you watch the video of Rocco the vegan cowboy, you will see Dr. Mike ride alongside him, both on horseback in cowboy hats.

Rooco And The Land of Oz

Rocco kept up with his 10,000 steps a day, and is now ready to move it up to 12,000 steps a day -- He keeps a pedometer in his pocket.

Dr. Oz told us everywhere he goes people have stopped and asked him about Rocco. Rocco explained to everyone he didn't do this for the T.V Show, He did it because he didn't want to fail Dr. Oz, Dr. Mike Roizen, and all the people he was influencing. People have written to Rocco telling him they were very inspired by him and his challenge.

Rocco went on to explain how Dr. Roizen presented everything to him, and made him realize he had an eating disorder, and he had to change his behaviour.

The the big moment Dr. Oz puts Rocco back to the truth tube, and the numbers are;

Waist size 43 -- before 49
Glucose 99 -- before 172

How Did Rocco Do It

DR. OZ AND DR. FUHRMAN'S "THE VEGAN DIET"

Rocco's girlfriend lori spoke today with Dr. Oz on how Rocco's decision to become a vegan affect her. She said how really proud she was off him, and she was happy to go through it with him. Lori is a breast cancer survivor, and Rocco went through the chemotherapy with her, so she went through this with him. She stated they are both now healthy, and she doesn't have to cook two separate meals, and they can start their healthy life together.

Dr. Oz told Rocco his Vegan Challenge has inspired people across the country and displayed pictures of people around the world who thought they could identify with Rocco's issues and were touched at what he told them, and how he changed their lives by being who he was.

Rocco was overwhelmed and humbled through the whole experience, saying it is irreversible and doable in 28 days.

Rocco's secrets

Soaking walnuts in water half an hour before you eat, never eating anything larger than the size of the palm of his hand, he said he may 6 to 8 times a day.

The biggest meal of the day for Rocco is breakfast, because he has the most amount of time to work that off. He eats nothing past 5:30 at night. If he does he has his Cowboy Cucumber Salad. A Cowboy Cucumber Salad Is exactly that Cucumbers, and uses a spray salad dressing (Vinaigrette) which allows him not to over serve himself.

Rocco's Breakfast;

Sir Rocco's Burger
1 Soy Burger which he pops in the microwave with no oil at all. He takes garlic and green onion, heats it up and puts Humus on it, and instead of bread he uses two slices of tomato. Dr. Oz did a taste test and decided it was delicious. Rocco says this burger can be no more than 120 calories.

Rocco's Snacks;

He carries nuts with him wherever he goes. He portions them and keeps them in his saddlebag on horseback, rather than roping and eating a cow.

Dr. Oz told Rocco his 28 days are over and asked him what he was going to do now. Rocco's reply was "Nothing right now". He said where he has an eating disorder, this is successful for him right now, and for him to lose more weight, he can't go back to what got him there in the first place, just like an alcoholic can't go back to drinking.

Rocco says this is not easy, you have to want to do it. Rocco says he is living proof you can do it, and he lost 15 pounds in the first week of his vegan diet.

Media Center With Video And PDF Of Dr. Furhrman And Dr. Oz / Full Story On Alanis Morissette

Today, Alanis Morissette is proud of her new, fit body because, for the first time, she achieved it in a healthy manner. In addition to her workout regimen, Morissette, 35, follows a mostly vegan diet inspired by Dr. Joel Furhrman's book Eat To Live. Dr. Furhrman's diet is based around Nutrient dense foods.

Losing weight under Dr. Fuhrman's plan is not about willpower: it is about knowledge. The key to this revolutionary diet is the idea of nutrient density expressed by the simple formula:

Health= Nutrients/Calories

When the ratio of nutrients to calories is high, fat melts away, and health is restored. Losing 20 pounds in two to three weeks is just the beginning.

With more nutrient-dense food consumed, the more you will be satisfied with fewer calories, and the less you will crave fat and high-calorie foods. If you are an adult diabetic, you will likely be insulin-free in no time; if you are on heart medication, your doctor may stop your prescription; if you are planning a June wedding, you will have the dress size of your dreams. Dr. Fuhrman's meal plan offers recipes for power foods and delicious meals that deliver the biggest bang for the caloric buck. He promises that you can lose at least thirty pounds in three months without ever going hungry. Moreover, after you try his Six–Week Plan, you will lose your appetite for unhealthy over processed foods. The types of foods that account for America's having the second-highest incidence of cancer and heart disease in the world.
