Statistics show that over 25,000 causes of death in men is colon cancer. Dr. Oz talked about the 3 life saving steps to prevent this invasive cancer.

Men should have a Colonoscopy at the age of fifty, and every ten years there after. If there is a family history this colonoscopy test should be done by the age of forty. Polyps that are found through the colonoscopy procedure can be cut off during the process, and cures the cancer from progressing. but if there is a spot of invasive cancer it cannot be dealt with in the same way.

There are a few alternatives to colonoscopy but they are less likely to prevent cancer compared to the invasive tests. guaiac-based fecal occult blood testing (gFOBT), fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) and stool DNA testing (sDNA), barium enema and computed tomography (CT) colonography. Still, most doctors will recommend colonoscopy to screen for colorectal cancer. (A sigmoidoscopy is a similar tool but only visualizes the first third of the colon.) Get A Colonoscopy!

The 3 signs of colon cancer

Blood in the stool
Pains in your belly
Weight loss for no reason

To prevent colon cancer stay away from meat - processed meats, especially red meat, or become a vegetarian. Red meat has been found to be linked to cancer. Eat fruit and vegetables high in fibre, especially blueberries, which may contain a colon protective chemical. Eat a diet rich in whole grains and high in fiber. Talk to your doctor about taking a daily aspirin.

Take vitamin D and folic acid. Eat probiotics -- yogurt, miso and other fermented soy products -- foods that contain live bacterial cultures that protect the gut flora Dr. Oz recommended and avocado shake which is high in fibre, and that it would nourish the intestinal tract.

This is not the Avocado Shake recipe as seen on Dr. Oz, at least I don't think it is, they did not specify what was in this avocado shake. So here is one for you.

My Recipe;
1 Cup Soy Milk
1 Avocado Pitted
1 Tbsp. Agave Syrup(personal preference)
1 Tbsp. Psyllium husk (for fiber)
Crushed Ice

Here is another Avocado Shake Recipe I found, I haven't tried it.
1 Cup Soy Milk or Nut Milk
1 avocado, Pitted
1 grapefruit
1/2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1 Tbsp. Molasses

Just blend it all together in a blender.

Deaths: Cancer Facts & Figures 2009 American Cancer Society An estimated 49,920 deaths from colorectal can- cer are expected to occur in 2009, accounting for almost 9% of all cancer deaths. Mortality rates for colorectal can- cer have declined in both men and women over the past two decades, with a steeper decline since 2002 (4.3% per year from 2002 to 2005 in both men and women, com- pared to 2.0% per year from 1990 to 2002 in men and 1.8% per year from 1984 to 2002 in women). This decrease reflects declining incidence rates and improvements in early detection and treatment.

Signs And Symptoms Of Colon Cancer

Signs and symptoms: Early stage colorectal cancer does not usually have symptoms; therefore, screening is necessary to detect colorectal cancer in its early stages. Advanced disease may cause rectal bleeding, blood in the stool, a change in bowel habits, and cramping pain in the lower abdomen. In some cases, blood loss from the cancer leads to anemia (low red blood cells), causing symptoms such as weakness and excessive fatigue.

Risk factors: The risk of colorectal cancer increases with age; 91% of cases are diagnosed in individuals aged 50 and older. Several modifiable factors are associated with increased risk of colorectal cancer. Among these are obe- sity, physical inactivity, a diet high in red or processed meat, heavy alcohol consumption, and possibly smoking and inadequate intake of fruits and vegetables. Studies indicate that compared to healthy-weight individuals, men and women who are overweight are more likely to develop and die from colorectal cancer.

The 5 Dollar Supplement Everyone Should take

ZINC - Men low in zinc could have fertility problems and impotence. Zinc strengthens the muscles, immune system, and helps with hair loss.

Take 11 milligrams zinc each day, don't take more than that according to Dr. Oz.

The number 1 food source for zinc is shellfish, 2 ounces of shellfish will give you one third of the daily allowance of zinc.
Number two greatest source of zinc is liver.
number 3 is sauerkraut juice.

Male Pattern baldness

Male pattern baldness is genetic to an extent. Biotin is used to help with hair loss - balding as well as B vitamins. Biotin is found in avocados. Over the counter drugs for hair loss was Minoxidil for mens hair loss treatment, and Minoxidil for women's hair loss. The prescription fenasteride (propecia) for male pattern baldness.

Belly Blaster Gut Buster Plan

With this plan Dr. oz recommended he could have the same volume of food daily but less calories, to get that 51 and a half inch beer belly gone. This would shave off 1800 calories, which would be a 4 pound weight loss per week. He was to eat a breakfast, which was a peanut butter jelly sandwich, to hold him until lunch time. He could still have the same amount of food he normally would have at lunch time, but different choices which would be less calories.

The trick to dinner was to have thin crust pizza and to swap out the pepperoni to chicken. He didn't have to give up the ice cream, he could have a scoop as apposed to having the whole tub of ice cream. Ice cream automatically turns that sugar to fat. He could still have his beer, but to switch over to light beer, and he would be losing 50 calories by doing that. He also told him to get on the balancing exercise ball to exercise because he couldn't do sit ups on his own, plus cardio twice - three times a week to start.

And that was What you missed on Dr. Oz today, Monday October 5th.
