Dr. Oz Dieting Shortcuts

Dr. Mehmet Oz’s “Best Shortcuts Ever” show today November 12th

Last week Dr Oz was in Cleveland and spoke with NewsChannel5 health reporter Alicia Booth to share some of those shortcuts.

Dr. Oz, who was born in Cleveland, said that these are difficult times with a lot of economic pressure on people.

“In the winter months, it’s hard to go outside. So you have a very stressful environment, where you don’t have physical activity that’s easy to do and so you’ve created the perfect recipe for weight gain,” he said.

His show today will be dedicated to dieting shortcuts. In case you missed it here is the link for Dr Oz 6 Weight Loss Shortcuts.

Dr. Oz's weight loss Shortcuts

EAT AN APPLE BEFORE LUNCH

Penn State researchers discovered that people who ate a large apple 15 minutes before lunch took in 187 fewer calories during lunch than those who didn’t have an apply beforehand.

Apples are full of fiber and fill up your stomach quicker. You can lose an average of 5 pounds a year using this shortcut.

REFRIGERATE YOUR CANNED GOODS
When a can is refrigerated, the fat rises to the top and you can scrape the fat right off—putting the fat in the garbage and not in your body.
You can lose up to 6 pounds a year using this shortcut.

CUT 100 CALORIES A DAY

“The way to lose weight, and it’s been shown in every long-term trial that’s ever been done is to take 100 calories off what you normally eat, that’s it,” he said.
Cutting calories dramatically can slow your metabolism and cause your body to burn muscle. Dr. Oz said your body will hardly notice that you’ve cut just a few calories.

“You’re just gonna lose a little bit of fat every day and over the course of several months, you’ll lose the weight you wanted to lose. That’s how you lose weight sustainably,” he said.
